10 REASONS WHY WE THINK TRAVELLING WITH YOUR DOG IS THE BEST!

A dog helps you choose where to go

Ever heard the quote“I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list”. Well lets start by saying that traveling with your dog does limit the list of countries you are allowed to visit. Boo Hoo! Some countries have really strict dog regulations or even quarantine rules. Think Australia, New Zealand, Japan to start. But there is a huge list of countries that accept your fur babies, so it might just take a lifetime for you to see them all.

A dog does change your perception of what's possible

Okay travelling with your dog is challenging. Maybe to some a little too restrictive, a little too costly and in general just plain hard work. Logistically yes we have to plan more, think a little further ahead and maintain a flexible approach to our travel plans. But why it that a problem? I mean the good thing is we look at it from a new perspective. We follow paths we otherwise wouldnt have taken and all in all its fun. I dont know about you but every moment spent with my boys is a blessing.

Dogs are awesome company

My boys over the years have had as much stamin, if not more, thanmy husband and I. And boy have we all travelled some miles. Our boys never complain, take a break when we do, are full of beans for the next stop and make me smile every single day. We were in Norway in minus 48 degree temperatures in our motorhome and they were the best snuggle partners ever - they kept me so warm!

Dogs are great for your social life

Our dogs are always great conversation starters with strangers. They make people smile & laugh when theyre acting a little crazy. Kids want to pet them and people are in general interested in hearing about how we travel the world with them. Overall we have met hundreds of people over the years which all started as a conversation about our dogs.

They are great motivation

After long days, cold days, hot days, hard days they are there waiting for their walks. So we know minimum twice per day we are out of the house and entertaining our fur babies. Its great motivation for when you simply want to veg out on the couch.

They are great exercise buddies

When you travel you are out of your normal routine. Exercising is carried out more spontaneously. Our boys have always been great exercise companions. They run with us, walk with us, play games with us. You name it there up for it.

They make you feel a little safer

Travelling in our motorhome around Europe for 1 year was awesome, but parts of Europe are not the safest. Having the dogs on board acted as great security guards. They would bark if someone walked by the van, signal to us if they were unsettled with strange noises and better still there sense of smell was fantastic when noise was not an indicator of them being unsettled. Big or small they do in general give you a little peace of mind.

Dogs just make you smile

Its true! There unconditional and unwavering love for us is by far so precious. Whatever mood you are in they have the ability to cheer you up. Science proves that they are great for peoples mental health.

Your dog will get you off the beaten track

You go places you wouldnt otherwise go, this is a fact. You hit parks, quieter areas, more remote beaches and rivers. In general they bring you closer to nature every single time.

A dog loves adventure

There is no doubt that our dogs have shared our wanderlust. They have encouraged us to explore the world on a different level and that has been super fun. They love to roam, explore, seek out new territory & patiently follow us wherever we decide to go. They truy are the best!
