Did you know that there's a 7 day post entry quarantine period in Malaysia?

In late August 2023 we wrapped up our travel plans in Sri Lanka and embarked on the onward journey to Malaysia. Zeusy boy had yet another flight to tackle. So with the help of Lakshini at Pet Travels Lanka Zeus flew with Singapore Airlines to Kuala Lumpar. He had a transit stop in Singapore for a good few hours. We used 'Kevs posh pet services', which is a one man band company who looks after your dog during their transit period. Kevin went to the transit area, fed and watered Zeus, took him out for a walk and took a few videos to put our mind at ease. In our opinion well worth the $300 SGD. The original plan was for Zeus to take a direct flight with Sri Lanka Airlines, but due to the economic crisis and issues with the airline they suspended wide body aircraft to Malaysia for a period of time, which ruled Zeus out. On arrival in the capital city of Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia, Zeus was required to carry out a 7 day period in quarantine. We were allowed to visit Zeus, in which we did. I believe that privilege has now been taken away. Now the quarantine station in Kuala Lumpar is basic. In fact my worse fears come to light when I physically saw it. A concrete, hot, partly open aired facility with 'zero love'. I mean 'zero love' folks. We had to order a fan for Zeus and we ensured the pet transport company that accepted Zeus on arrival called 'Dr K Imports' physically went to the facility daily to ensure Zeus was okay and sent us videos as proof. Zeus was of course safe and fed daily, but boy oh boy talk about a rough facility. At the 7 day mark Zeus was automatically delivered to us. Zeus growing up in a Mediterranean climate is not used to tropical weather so it has been a test. He has dealt with it okay, but hes definitely looking forward to entering New Zealand in February 2024 for a more moderate climate.
